Walks 8

Fairymount Farm Walks & Trails offers residents something very unique. These various trails, marked with arrows and carefully marked benches for pit stops brings you through rich new forestry, oak trees, rich pastures, up to the top of our 700 foot hill Knockshegowna (known through Irish legend as the fairy hill), past horses, sheep and all forms of Irish wildlife. Our walks take you past untouched archaeological sites; ring Forts (dating as far 2000 years old), a Fulachta Fiadh, and we even have a crannog(400AD) on site by our own private lake, Lough Nahinch.

These 450 acres are steeped in history, from evidence of the prehistoric age to remains of site from the great 1840s famine. We have done everything we can to preserve the natural habitat, which hosts a huge array of wildlife, natural fauna, flowers, reeds and trees. The oak wood is practically untouched and has naturally regenerated itself over hundreds of years.

The trails are accessible to both experienced walkers and families alike.
